SEO or PPC? What software should I use? How many links do I need? In-house or Outsource? Clients or Affiliates? Figuring out answers as these questions arise…
Hi, my name is Giggle-bee. Googlebot Agent 00101101101.
If you want me to index all your pages, makes sure each page is at least 1 text link away from a static page. If you want me to index you fast and mark you as having topical relevance to your topic, Create a clear hierarchy of keyword-rich text links.
When I travel around the net and arrive at a destination, your domain, I like to have a map of where I am. So create a site-map so I know right away where to go, where everything is and how important it all is based on it’s location within your site.
If you have a page with 100 links or more, it will slow me down and not allow me to fully test your relevance. By time I visit all those links on that page, my brothers will already have spidered through all your competitors.
Make it clear what your site is about. Make it informative, resourceful, joyful, interesting, unique, attractive and addicting.
I search the net looking for what users are looking for. So, think about what visitors are actually typing in and escort me to it on your site. So I can show everyone you’re the most relevant. I can’t stress this enough, put your targeted keywords in links directing me to the most interesting pages on your site.
I like words that are bold and strong and have a style of their own. Nothing speaks to me more about a site than its title and alternative attributes.
The most important thing is that you prove to me that you are the one that can provide me with what no other site can provide me and I will give you your heart’s desire.

It’s hard to understand because Google’s algorithm is hard to understand.
My girlfriend wanted me to spend some quality time with her last night. I told her “tonight might not be a good night for us because I wanted to knock out some tasks for one of my personal sites“. She asked with impatience “how much more work do you have to do until that site to will be done?” I laughed… She asked “What else do you have to do? Maybe I can help.” So I just blurted out some tasks to her…
I have to upload all my pictures, videos and html files to all the torrents. Before that, I must make sure the files are watermarked and have keyword-rich file names so they show up on searches and get downloaded.
I have to go into one of my flickr accounts and find all pictures related to my site and comment on all of them to get internal links (build pr) back to my profile. Maybe even comment with a link to the site that I am promoting.
I have to go to socialmarker, start a profile, submit my site and other resourceful sites to every site possible.
I have to create various ads to post in various cities on free classified sites like craigslist and kijiji to build a some awareness.
I have to create some type of press release/top 10 tips/tutorial and distribute it to every press release/content site and hope for it to get picked up.
I have to convert the press releases to PDF files and submit them to PDF directories, then convert all PDF’s to PAD’s and submit them to software directories.
I have to start a ebay profile with keyword-rich, website related content with links back to my sites and create an Amazon account and recommend some books I have read relating to the industry.
I have to go and comment on every blog related to my site that I’ve found interesting.
I have to create a banner to add to banner exchanges.
I also have to submit my site to every free directory on the net…
She got the point immediately.
It’s an on going process that can’t be done tonight.
Before she could say anything, I remembered what my co-worker Jeff said to me. When creating a list of all the tactics you plan to implement, estimate the time each tactic will take, determine the projected impact/results you think they will make and the cost. Use these metrics to determine the urgency and importance of each tactic. This way you can see what’s fast and free, then what takes a little more time but still free, what’s fast and cost money and so on. Or you can sort it by impact results. What’s fast and will have the greatest impact, what will have the greatest impact and is free, then what will have the greatest impact and take the shortest amount of time and so on. All this is based on your own goals.
I said to my girlfriend, “just you asking me that question definitely makes me realize that my internet marketing time management is all out of whack“. So instead of actually working on a tactic last night, I created a list of all the tactics I wanted to do and carefully thought about how important each tactic was compared to the other. Based on cost, time and projected impact.
I learned very quickly that my time estimates were off and that my tactic order was all wrong. This was also great to do because I was forced to think about (research) how much of a difference ‘tactic A’ will make compared ‘tactic B’ and ‘C’.
So I wrote this just to remind myself that taking the time to properly plan out my strategies can actually save me more time and can help me achieve my goals faster.
I am a deep Googlebot. My job is to discovery new and updated pages on the net. I travel the web through links. But, I am too old to go through what you young whippersnappers put me through. Having your sessions and starting arguments… And your Java graphiti is hideous. I can even look at it.
So I am giving you webmasters some tips to make my life easier. These are my technical guidelines. Please use text browser such as Lynx to see how your site looks in my eyes. You will see that I don’t like things like JavaScrit, cookies, session ids, frames, DHTML’s or any java like pages.
Allow me to crawl your site without session ids and trackback arguments. Tracking users with such techniques creates access barriers making it difficult for me to go to you web page. These links make it hard for me to differentiate between your urls. Therefore, I will think all your pages are duplicates and eliminate them from my index.
Even though you new age web designers are moving too fast for me, I’m still hip enough to know how to text. So, send me a robot. text file to prevent me from crawling pages that don’t add value to my users and that you don’t want me to see. And make sure you text messages are up to date.
You can always use the robot.txt analysis tool in the Google Webmasters tools to see how your robot text file is functioning.
Last but not least; make sure your web server supports the IF-MODIFIED-SINCE-HTTP Header. This will let me know if anything has been changed since the last time I been to your site. So save me some time.
Webmasters, please help me out by reading the Webmaster Guidelines by Google. You can find it by “Googling” “webmaster guidelines”. We’re number 1 or you can find the link at Jameseo.com.
Stay tuned for my cousin, he will let you SEO’s and webmasters know how not to get grey barred, grey bar…
Get links from all the sites linking to your competitors and from all the sites linking to the sites linking to your competitors. Then if you can’t get links from your top competitors, seek to get links from all the sites your competitors are linking to … Link Tunneling.
Here is the JameSEO way of describing link tunneling…
The main point I’m trying to make is, if you can’t get links from the big boyz in your industry, try to get links from the sites they are linking to. SEO Chat has a great tool called the Site Link Analyzer. Use this tool to see who your competitors link to. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to get one from those sites.

Hope you enjoyed my definitions of link tunneling.
