Yes, Google (Matt Cutts) does say there is a way to handle the www vs. non-www issue. He doesn’t say with is best. They say just pick 1 version and stick to it. IF your trying to decide which version to pick, check to see which version shows up on Google for your top terms and figure out which one already has the most backlinks. And yes, these are all different URL’s/pages in the bot’s eyes;
