Back to Work – PPC Management

1st off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my SEO blog. I really do appreciate it. You can read another related post (found below) or subscribe here. Once again, thank you for visiting James’ SEO blog.

Back to Work PPC Management on top of it ppc

Today was my first day back to work after being on winter vacation since the Friday before Christmas. I really appreciated this break, for I was able to accomplish a lot of things I been wanting to accomplish. (like finally creating this wordpress blog)

I spent my whole break indulging in SEO, but my profession is PPC. Although I love the creative side of search engine optimization, I was happy to be back in the “PPC World”.

Anyway, here are some things I had to do today to get back on track.

  • Examine client’s month-end budgets & set new ones for the new year
  • Keyword reports to make sure we are allocating the budgets correctly
  • Keyword reports to find more negative keywords.
  • Eliminate keywords performing way above the CPA (cost-per-acquisition)goals.
  • Eliminate last month’s ad creatives that failed to hit expectations
  • Study last month’s traffic (analytics)
  • & caught up on a ton of emails.

That was just for today. Now that I am all ”caught up”, the work should really kick in.

How Blogging Could be Beneficial

How Blogging Could be Beneficial laptop blogging

I recently read a blog post titled; Blogging and Your Career – Ten Reasons Why Blogging is Good for your Career on Blogger Buzz. This article made me realize that my blog could have multiply purposes. I’ve already explained in my most recent post my personal desire to rank #1 for my name, but here are 10 reasons why JameSEO.com could benefit James Harrison’s career.

1. “You have to get noticed to get promoted.” Creating some type of buzz or getting some type of recognition from co-workers could definitely help me get promoted to higher opportunities.

2. “You have to get noticed to get hired.” I have a good job with a great company. This doesn’t really apply to me… unless I get offered a great job with a great company.

3. “It really impresses people when you say “Oh, I’ve written about that, just google for XXX and I’m on the top page” or “Oh, just google my name.””

It really impresses people when I say “Oh, I’ve written about that, just google for “Freelance SEO San Diego” and I’m on the top page” or “Oh, just google James Harrison

4. “No matter how great you are, your career depends on communicating. The way to get better at anything, including communication, is by practicing. Blogging is good practice.” I absolutely agree. I communicate everyday with co-workers & clients, so it’s probably best for me to continue blogging to stay on top of this new communication evolution.

5. “Bloggers are better-informed than non-bloggers. Knowing more is a career advantage.” I do have to admit, I am pretty up on what’s going on in this world compared to my colleagues that don’t blog.

6. “Knowing more also means you’re more likely to hear about interesting jobs coming open.” If I were to start looking for a job in this field, I do know exactly where to search.

7. “Networking is good for your career. Blogging is a good way to meet people.” I am positive I will make new friends and branch out to more people through this blog.

8. “If you’re an engineer, blogging puts you in intimate contact with a worse-is-better 80/20 success story. Understanding this mode of technology adoption can only help you.” I’m not 100% sure how this effects me, but I do work in the online media field, so acquiring fresh knowledge through blogging could be beneficial to me.

9. “If you’re in marketing, you’ll need to understand how its rules are changing as a result of the current whirlwind, which nobody does, but bloggers are at least somewhat less baffled.”

“Anybody on the street can be at a particular place at any given time and witness/record something and post it on the net before any national news/broadcasting station could get to the scene & report it…. realizing this allows us to understand why the advertising landscape is turning upside down”

Todd Thompson

10. “It’s a lot harder to fire someone who has a public voice, because it will be noticed.” Gotta love it!

Suddenly, this blog has more to offer than just ranking #1 for James Harrison.
