The 1st Page of Google for “SEO Blog” Pt.2
Hey guys, in my last post about the 1st page of Google for SEO blog, I took a snapshot of the 1st page of Google for the term SEO blog and pointed out a couple things I noticed about the competition. One thing I mentioned was how dynamic the 1st page of Google was/is. Well, here’s proof; snapshots of Google’s 1st page for the keyword “SEO blog” over the past 4 days.

Every single day the results change. In fact, according to my SERP tracker, my site has seen the 1st page a couple times in the last few weeks. I’ll catch it one day and snapshot it.
Remember how aggressive I was saying the competition was being when they only had “SEO blog” in their title tags..? It looks like it’s working, no? Sometimes it pays to be aggressive in the SEO world. But doesn’t it seem like the title tags should be used to distinguish your site from the rest and to allure clicks?

It is rather curious observation. As I can understand, constant monitoring of the competition is needed and should be held not rare than 1 time a day. But it takes time…much time.
I've always assumed it was dynamic, and this backs up my observations. I've been monitoring a SERP that changes (sometimes dramatically) every 12-18 hours.
I know, I even thought about doing every 6 hour changes to prove how dynamic it is. Glad to see I'm not the only one "watchin'" :)

OH YEAH. Google's trying to deliver results they think would be best for YOU, based on location, surf history, etc. Sometimes, it's because you are logged into your Google account. Logged out is the closest you are going to getting accurate results. But even then you have to make sure your preferences are set NOT to personalize results. Plus Google has multiple data centers that update routinely at different times, so the results vary ALWAYS.
Dissapointing to see that Matt's blog stayed! however..
Again quite interesting, it is also worth noting that on the last snap shot the Adwords advertisers are showing on the top as well, this is usually an indication that more and more people are bidding for that keyword ..

My website bounces around daily but I have never followed it too much because it can get upsetting when you are working on it constantly. I guess there is no foolproof was to keep moving it up.

It is important to consistently measure the first page position. It is really nice you take snapshots of different days.

I have seen in other niches, where the title didn't include any keywords for the search term and it got on page 1 of Google. There were so many backlinks pointing to that site, from other sites that are related to the search term niche, that did the ranking magic.

Yeah, it’s all about link weight and content on site. my seobythehour site is on the 1st page of Google for “San Diego” and it’s not in my title tag..
I can see that the real top are always on top. First 3 sites are always there holding their positions — its the rest 7 sites or should I say the rest 17 that changes positions!
Anyway, seems you are just like me–keeping hour by hour tack of SERP change.

I have seen this same thing in my niche in yahoo, I have been sitting at number two on google. But on yahoo some days Ill be in first position then on others not even in on the front page. A great job at showing how these positions change on a daily basis.

The Term "SEO Blog" is really a hard thing to rank into first page. You're pretty great to rank on first page.
And you we're right, I said "Great" because you don't just achieve these rankings overnight.
